This year so far I’ve completed two Spartan races – the Sprint (4 miles) and the Super (9 miles), with the Beast (13 miles) yet to come, this September in California.
Here are a collection of photos from our races thus far with the team.

That looks like fun.
It’s just about down to two weeks left for your Spartan Beast even thing. What have you been doing to train for this? Do you ease back the training during the final week to recover?
I continue doing what I normally do honestly (a lot of conditioning, strength training) but try to hit the gym harder/more frequently. I do a lot of intensive workouts and focus a lot on upper body strength (as a lot of the strength is in my legs and upper body needs to improve) and try to do runs with longer distances. I haven’t been training as well as I could.
I was in a similar situation earlier this year where I was training myself and not has hard as I could have. As a result, I did not do as well as I would have liked at the events that I go to. Since then, I hired a personal trainer. I feel like it has made a huge difference. I hope to test out the results at some event maybe in October at the Europa Games.
Nice. I used to have a trainer as well. Right now I do a lot of group classes (insanity) with a teacher that I know well and he has his own spin on things – so with him the workouts are especially varied and so far out of all the fitness classes I’ve taken his is the hardest on me physically (out of crossfit, krav maga, boxing conditioning classes, etc) — mainly because he does his own thing and due to how hard he pushes you. I attribute this plus various other strength training and conditioning classes for the shape I am in now. I am missing the more targeted personal one-on-one training I could get with a trainer, though. I’m only hesitating because of the expense of it.
I still have a long ways to go when it comes to really being in the shape I want to be in. 🙂
I agree. It is very expensive.
What is the shape you want to be in?
